Enterprise


DESCRIPTION

The open software contest showcases a number of applications, tools and ideas that scan a wide spectrum of interest areas, ranging form Data security to Image Processing, from media applications to tools and utilities.

RULES

1. Last Date for Entries - 15 March,2010
2. Number of members per team should not exceed four.
3. Participants have the liberty to code in any language based on Windows only. Software which has been used commercially is not acceptable for the competition.
4. The abstract of your project in a standard format and your software( means all the files thar are required to run your software in zip file) need to be submitted for the competition.
5. Your abstract should cover following topics:


Idea of your Project


o How your project works? Please mention the algorithm and functional analysis of the software.
o Explain its concept, usage and validity.
Highlight specifically the problem for which the project is worked out as a solution and your original contribution towards the solution of the problem.


Any other aspect of the project worth a mention.(optional)

The judgment will be based on innovation, type of problem chosen, approach and scope of applicability.

ELECTRONICATHON


Description:

A circuit making competition which will test your knowledge of electronic circuitry & put your skills to test. Participants will have to make electronic circuits of their own choice on spot. The idea and concept behind the circuit is their own.

RULES:
1 Maximum 4 participants can be there in a team.
2 Participants are required to bring their components and materials used for their circuit.
3 Circuit should be completed within given this time limit.
4 General PCB (unfabricated).
5 Project should be in working conditions.
6 Programming based projects should be programmed on the spot


The evaluation will be done on the following parameters:-

1 Relevance to the specified themes.
2 Novelty and feasibility for application.
3 Ability to tackle industry defined problems.
4 Demonstration and presentation Soft skills of the presenter

PROJECT-O-MANIA


DESCRIPTION

“Just as energy is the basis of life itself and ideas the source of innovation, so is innovation the vital spark of all human change, improvement and progress.”
Sparked with technology and tickled by science, current generation young minds are now ready to tackle any problem given to them. Here is the opportunity to flaunt their skills and to fire up the ember in the name of Project- innovation, an event in Techno-helix’10. To enlighten the future world, today’s young minds’ creativity and artistic quality will be the base. We invite projects of various disciplines of engineering. This contest will mainly explore the intelligence, novelty, innovativeness,
Project exhibition aims to identify, promote and reward outstanding engineering talent across India to showcase their projects. . The contest provides a level-playing field for every budding engineer to display his/her technical brilliance in their relative discipline of engineering.

Rules:-
• The Team should consist of maximum of FIVE members.
• Participants have to display their projects along with power-point presentation..
• The max. time limit for the presentation and discussion of the project will be 10 mins.
• The working model will be approved only if the project is in a running condition.

DEBUGING SKILLS


DESCRIPTION
Can you navigate your way through infested code, while finding out the sophistry, and suggesting sound alternatives to the specious reasoning? Are you capable enough to see behind the superficial garb of clean code segments? Do bugs stare out at you from every computer screen that you pass by?
Then, this one's for you, where you can squash those bugs with your intellect, and logic.

RULES
-
1. Individual participation.
2. Code will confirm to standard C/C++.
3. No choice of language is offered
4. Backward navigation may not be allowed (will be disclosed on event day)
5. Not all questions carry equal marks
6. There will be a maximum of 15 errors to be solved in 15 minutes

C/C++ PROGRAMMING


DESCRIPTION

Total number of participants is 2 in each team.

RULES

Round 1(Qualifying round): only 50% of the team registered will be allowed to go to ‘Round 2’after initial written test (based on MCQs).
Round 2: General G.K questions.
Round 3: Technical questions.

LAN GAMING


DESCRIPTION

This event includes live gaming in which computers in a certain area will be interconnected with each other with the help of a LAN cable, so that participants can compete with each other rather than competing with the computer itself.


NEED FOR SPEED

It is an individual car race gaming competition. Individual participants will compete against each other through interconnected computers in a knockout round. The one who will survive till the end of the race will be the winner and will advance to next level of gaming zone. At the end, all the winners will compete against one another and the winner of this round will be the prize winner of the gaming zone.


UNREAL TOURNAMENT

It is an action pact group gaming competition. This game requires strategy, team play and coordination among the team players.
RULES:
• Team should comprise of maximum 5
members and minimum 3 members.
• It will be comprised of different rounds with different map. Winner will be decided by win in last round.

Spin the WEB


DESCRIPTION

Using HTML, participants have to design websites of their own.
Topics:-
1. Airline Reservation System
2. E-Mart.
3. Library Management
4. Mobile Shop
5. Travel and Tourism

RULES

Total number of participants is 2 in each team.
The design should work in current browsers and degrade gracefully in older browsers
Client side scripting is allowed
Content and links should reflect the data provided on the day of the competition
Liquid layout and not resolution or screen size specific
Provide a name for your design to help identify it during the judging
Provide a short description behind choosing the design. This does not need to be more than a paragraph.
Be innovative
Be original
You are not allowed to bring any data.
You will be provided with the following software: Microsoft FrontPage, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Macromedia Fireworks, Macromedia Flash, Adobe Photoshop. Any additional software required should be brought by the student.

RULES

1. A maximum of 2 students per team are allowed to present a paper. In case of team participation, both the members are required to be present on the spot of the event.
2. Bring one soft copy and two hard copies.
3. Participants have to submit one hard copy of abstract at the time of registration.
4. Bring your power point presentations in CD/DVD.(for CSE & IT Streams)
5. Maximum of 10 mins for presentation followed by queries.
6. Time allotted for presenting a paper is 8-10minutes. The first buzzer will be rung after 8 minutes and the final buzzer will be rung after 10min. Exceeding the time limit will result in the deduction of marks. Time for questioning is 2minutes.
7. Participants should be present at the venue atleast 45 minutes before the event.

The decision of the judges will be final.

AutoCAD designing


DESCRIPTION

Design your imagination with your technical skills.


RULES

1 Time limit 1.5 hrs.
2 Production is your first priority. Getting the design to the client on time is critical. Everything takes a back seat to meeting deadlines, budgets and quality standards.
3 Protect the data. Backups are important. At times even production can be interrupted to get a clean backup.
4 CAD Standards Matter. Getting everyone on the same page and understanding how, what and why we build our files in a certain way is to be constantly nurtured.
5 Standards can go out the window in order to fulfill Rule #1. Standards and procedures are a tool to enhance production. If they get in the way, we may need to abort them to get the job out.
6 When you break Rule #4 – go back and fix it as soon as possible.

TECHNICAL QUIZ


DESCRIPTION

Calling all quizzers!! Do you take pride in being called a techno-wizard? So what are you waiting for? This brain storming session is for all you "wikipedias" out there! Be a part of this extravaganza and take home some great prizes!

RULES

1 The quiz will be based on technical and current affairs.
2 The Quiz consists of 2 rounds:-
1. Preliminary Test
2. Rapid fire round
3 The prelims are a written round that will have 30 questions.
4 Shortlisted students will paired in a team of 2 members. Teams will make it to the finals based on their performance in prelims.
5 Tie-Breaker questions will be used to handle situations where more than one team scores the same number of points.
6 Use of mobiles will lead to disqualification.

DESCRIPTION

A topic is given to the participants and there is a bell, when it buzzs the person who is speaking for the topic after a buzz he/she has to gear himself/herself against the topic and vice-versa.

Dance Competition


Cultural Dance Competition

It Includes Gidda and Bhangra competitions.

1) members of the team: 8-12.
2) maximum time for performance : 10-12 minutes


Western Dance Competition



1) Members of the team:8-12.
2) Maximum time limit:10-12 minutes.
3) Fireworks or any other things that can damage the stage are not allowed.
4) Participants representing college should possess their respective I-cards.
5) Any vulgarity in performance is not allowed.

Rock Band Competition


Participants representing college should possess their respective I-cards.


Any team not following the rules will be disqualified.

FINE ARTS


DESCRIPTION

It will consist of some fine art events which will be the main attraction among the participants. It includes:


POT PAINTING

Take the brush in your hand and be ready to paint….not the canvas, not the paper…but a POT!!! Take your imagination beyond limit and express it on the pot. We assure you a great amount of fun along with great experience and challenge in the event. So are you ready…

RULES AND REGULATIONS

• I Individual participation.
• Participant will have to take 1 brush, standard colors and an earthen pot with him.
• Paint anything of your choice to show your creativity.
• Creativity and finish in the work will be given preference.
• Time provided- 1.5 hours

FACE PAINTING

Take the brush in your hand and be ready to paint….not the canvas, not the paper but a face!!! Take your imagination beyond limit and express it on face. We assure you a great amount of fun along with great experience and challenge in the event.
Rules and Regulations:

CANVAS PAINTING

It includes events like pot painting, canvas etc. to define the creativity and art in hands of the participants.

2. Participants should carry their own material.
3. Time Limit of max 1hr.

Food stalls

These stalls will contain food items like noodles, chana bhatura; gol gappe etc. Bid for students will start at 1500 per stall.
There will be a total of 4 food stalls:
1. Chinese (food items will be discussed)
2. Indian (chana bhatura, pav bhaji etc.)
3. Snacks (gol gappe, chaat etc.) {available for sale to students}
4. Saag n makki ki roti. {Available for sale to students}
Food items to be sold are to be discussed earlier and students should provide the list of food items they’ll be selling in their respective stalls.

FUNS

1) Ad-d-Mad:
Mad the audience with your creative and innovative ideas. Team of 4-6 participants is must.

2) War of Channels:
With the air space cluttering up with a variety of channels, getting a program to your channel is no less than a war. Lets see how you will innovate on the spot to get the program to be telecast on your channel as other channels try the same thing.

Dj dedication stall

This stall will consist of tickets that will be sold for dedication songs to be played on the Dj.

Drinks stall

This stall will consist of drinks like soft drinks, juice, lassi, water bottles etc.
These stalls are not available to students

Company stalls

These stalls will be held by our sponsors like mobile companies & automobile companies. They’ll be sold to them according to sponsorship policies of our techfest.

Fun games

These stalls will consist of different fun games like dart boarding etc.
Maximum of 6 stalls will be there for such games. Tickets will be available to students at respective stalls

Rides

Rides like Columbus, giant wheel etc will be availed to students and their tickets will be available at this stall. It includes:
1) Camel ride
2) Horse ride
3) Columbus
4) Giant wheel

Rap Performance

This includes Intra College RAP performance; it may consist of English, Hindi and Punjabi RAP.

Any vulgarity will lead to disqualification of the contestant.

RJ hunt

RJ from famous fm channels will be called up to arrange an RJ hunt in our college. Winning students will be awarded with some exciting prizes and gr8 opportunities.

ROCK NIGHT

It will comprise of rock band competition between different rock bands from different colleges. At the end, a professional rock band will be performing on stage, rocking the stage up and down.
